(Hiram, GA) A material-handling solutions company is transferring production of one of its key products from overseas to Georgia, creating 30 jobs in Hiram.
Interroll, which specializes in sortation, conveyor and automation technology, is moving production of its “multibelt switch” product from Germany to its Hiram facility.
The switch is expected to create up to 30 new jobs, with roles in engineering, fabrication, assembly and quality control.
“We chose Hiram for its proximity to customers and its potential to attract talent,” Richard Keely, Interroll’s CEO Americas, said in a statement. “Most of our workforce lives within 10 to 20 miles of the facility. We’re proud to offer an alternative to long commutes into Atlanta.”
The multibelt switch is a compact, high-speed sorting solution intended for parcel delivery and e-commerce businesses. According to the company, it’s a cost-effective alternative to larger sortation systems, helping small warehouses scale efficiently and bigger facilities maximize their footprint utilization.
“This product line is more detailed than anything we’ve done before,” Keely said. “It’s an opportunity for our team to grow professionally and for our facility to evolve.”
According to a Nov. 12 news release, the company aims for 85% domestic sourcing to support U.S. suppliers and reduce reliance on overseas logistics.
“This isn’t just about manufacturing,” Keely said. “It’s about building something that benefits everyone: our customers, our employees, and our community.”
Interroll first opened a facility in Hiram in 2014, investing $11 million in a second plant on the campus about six years later. Headquartered in Switzerland, the company produces a variety of material-handling solutions, like conveyor rollers and sorters.
